They pull the moisture off your feet leaving them dry. I would highly recommend these socks to anyone who stays in boots all day. But these socks are really much better. They are more durable than any sock I've used before, and they don't shrink in the wash. Although I had two pair, I only used one as the pair was easy to wash and dried overnight. I will definitely purchase another color to complete my needs for for a longer upcoming trip.
