The back portion comes to a ridiculous point that cannot be mitigated by pulling the hat down tighter. I'm sorry, but I have no desire to join the ranks of Sylvan dryiads lurking about the forest. Hat gone back. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: By acousticbaseball (Kentucky, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Mountain Hardwear Dome Perignon Beanie (Apparel) Let me get this out of the way first...I am a tight wad. I debated on whether to spend the $30 for this piece of winter apparel. After using it in the snow, cold and wind I am glad that I did. The Gore-Tex Windstopper material does indeed do a fine job of "stopping the wind". It has good coverage for my head, ears and comes down pretty far on my neck. All to keep me warm and cozy. I think, but am not sure, that the GT Windstopper material is only on the head part. The front, side and back are just fleece. You will notice a decrease in hearing because of the hat, but it's not that big of a deal. Also it does have a "gnome" like quality to the design towards the upper, back part of the hat. I just push the poof down and it looks alright. Again, not that big of a deal. Overall I am pleased with the hat and glad to have spent the money on a quality piece of apparel. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Mountain Hardwear Dome Perignon Beanie (Apparel) I am a serious runner (1200 miles a year) and run outdoors all year long. I live in the Northeast, and when the winter weather comes I definitely need a hat to stop my head and ears from freezing. This hat works great. It is lightweight, warm, looks good, and fits comfortably over my head and ears--perfect for running outdoors on a cold day. The fabric is soft to the touch and does not irritate my skin. It is very luxurious and plush fleece. This hat is rated as a wind stopper, and has kept my head warm in windy conditions even where the real feel temperature is zero degrees. I read a review saying that wearing this hat over your ears will make it hard to hear what is going on around you, but that has not been my experience. It's no different than wearing a headband over your ears. I have no trouble hearing traffic or carrying on a conversation when wearing this hat. I wear this in combination with my Mountain Hardwear wind stopper jacket, and... Read more |
