Now, on to the item itslef. I have to be honest... I did not purchase this for a canoe or kayak. I am using it to hoist my jeep's hard top and it works great. I had been looking for such a hoist for a while and I found THIS EXACT SAME ONE at a Jeep parts site "quadratec", but they sell it more expensive AND as well as more for shipping. After reading and comparing the models, I realized this is the same model, just the instructions provided in the box are different. I just downloaded the instructions from the other site and installed it. Again, this works great! perfect for my Jeep top, I recommend it. When the hoist first arrived, I opened the box to reveal LOTS of little parts, pulleys, and ropes. After attempting installation, I discovered one part was missing. I contated the seller, who contacted the manufacturer on my behalf, and I had the part within a few days. After several attempts at raising the canoe to ceiling level (to get out of the way of my garage door) and having to adjust the ropes and the straps multiple times, the hoise does finally work as described.
