This splint does a good job of supporting my wrist and thumb. Compared to foam-only splits, this is more rigid and heavier - this makes it harder to use with a mouse/keyboard, but then again the support is better. The velcro straps are longer than they need to be. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: By Elizabeth "Elizabeth" (Phoenix, az) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: OTC Lightweight Breathable Wrist/Thumb Splint, Right, Medium (Health and Beauty) I had been using several over-the-counter splint that I bought at a local pharmacy to try to help with my De Quervain's tenosynovitis. The rigid structure is significantly better than any brace I have had for my right hand in which I have tendonitis and I have been on the look out for a right-handed version of my favorite brace. This is the closest I have found so far. This kind of brace is, for those that have ever worn them, is like wearing wrist guards for roller blading or skating. They have a rigid piece of material at the wrist that forces your hand to stay in one position. The thicker thumb portion helps prevent the thumb from moving quite so easily which, if you have tendonitis, is something that is a must. Thumb movement aggravates that type of injury and many braces I have used over the years still allow one to retain some movement of the thumb. This one is by far the best I have found to limit that movement. However, while the brace lives up to being rigid enough, it is not nearly as... Read more |
