Finally, there's a way to protect children from the dual hazards of heat and fire from fireplaces, wood burning stoves and barbecues, as well as the dangerous corners and hard, rough surfaces associated with hearths. The HearthGate? is the solution for layouts that do not have mounting points straight across. The standard gate fits hearths 6ft wide by 2ft deep. Larger fireplaces and wood burning stove areas may require additional sections. Five interlocking sections adjust in 10 degree increments and can be angled or set in a straight line as needed. Included in the 5 piece basic set is a walk through section that opens in either direction with a simple one hand adult release. The HearthGate is 29½in high and constructed of strong tubular steel with a black, non-toxic, heat resistant finish that is easy to maintain and blends with any decor. Space between the bars range from approx. 2in to 2.25in. Optional Extensions: G70-8 and G70-G24

It also ended up being very useful at Christmas time for closing off the end of the room where the tree and presents were. The hinged sections, along with the fence's rigidity, make it very versatile in closing off larger areas. It is also the only fence we found that seemed attractive enough to leave up in our living room for a few years. It's dark color helps it look right at home surrounding our fireplace. The price is a little higher than some other barriers that are bigger and sturdier. We have a large hearth and a wood stove insert, so a secure gate was a must. It is quite heavy, and has been very sturdy. The opening works well, and provides sufficient access to the fire. We cut it very close on the dimensions, so the gate was a little hard to install. All and all, this was a great purchase and well worth the money. |
