An old board game was used as basis of King's Bounty- OGRE the 70s old school strategy Board Game (I think Origin Systems made a home computer version too in the 1980s). The other games are classic Heroes of Might and Magic fare with excellent expansion adding replay value. On a fun note - the King's Bounty has been re-released on PS2 as Heroes of Might and Magic: Quest for the DragonBone Staff! For a small price, you can relive the beginning of an incredible series. Although the gameplay may seem simple, you go into extreme depth in storyline and gameplay. You'll find yourself playing hours on end just to beat one game, just to go on and spend countless more hours just to beat the next in the series. After you buy this and play it to death, I recommend buying the Heroes of Might and Magic 3 series, as it continues the storyline and engulfs more of your life.
