Even monthly treatments with citric acid-based dishwasher cleaners couldn't save the ol' Maytag.I made sure to lay in a supply of genuine trisodium phosphate (TSP) on the day our new Kenmore was installed. Back when it was one of the ingredients in dishwasher detergents, TSP was often listed as a performance booster and internal component protector. I drop a Finish Powerball Tab in the dispenser with a teaspoon of TSP. If you're using powdered detergent, put a teaspoon of TSP in the main wash chamber and fill the chamber the rest of the way with detergent. You can also put a couple of teaspoons in your washing machine. Most laundry detergents are phosphate free and this really helps get stains out.
