I've done four loads of "dark" laundry using Woolite Extra Dark Care and there has been no noticeable fading or bleeding. Two new pairs of dark rinse and black jeans were turned inside out and washed four times along with a household's worth of dark socks, sheets, towels, a tablecloth and various shirts. Almost everything came out perfectly clean, except for the tablecloth which still retained a few grease spots (I did not pre-spot.) The main point is that the colors stayed bright and did not fade AND the items were cleaned adequately. My past experience with Woolite has been that it is gentle but it does not clean as well as a detergent such as Tide. I either hand wash delicate items using a small amount of Tide, machine wash delicate items in a mesh bag and hang to air dry or send them to be professionally dry cleaned. People have compared ingredients, and said that they have nothing different than other brands, but I have seen a difference in my clothes. I have worn the same style of black, gap yoga pants for 3 years. I have several different pairs. In the 6 months that I have switched, I have noticed that my newer pairs have not faded one bit. And my older ones, while they still look older, and not gotten any worse, and my new ones should look at least that bad right? Anyways, this is not a scientific test, and I may actually have one of my kids do testing next year just out of curiosity...but for now, I am a believer. My black clothes never looked better.One hint: Buy it at Costco. It is half the price for twice as much. Also, it goes on sale quite frequently, so stock up. And, I only use it for my darks, as it is still expensive. But with Woolite Extra Dark Care, even I notice that my dark clothes come out looking better. Usually after a few washes they start to look faded out, but after using this for a month I noticed that nothing had really faded. Clothes come out without static and they are soft enough that I don't need to use fabric softener. I'll probably buy this again and try additional Woolite varieties. It is definitely easier on clothes than the national brand I usually use. |
