Thankfully, I've only had to use one of them, once, when my dog and I were under attack by a menacing, off-leash dog, that wanted to fight. I can't tell you how quickly pepper spray alleviated the problem. And, a couple of weeks later, I saw the escapee dog in a distant neighbor's yard and he looked absolutely fine. The night of the confrontation, I was walking a 130 lb. Akita (on leash), so I can guarantee, that if that dog had attacked my dog, he would not have been looking fine. A little pepper spray saved one, or all of us from some degree of harm. I'd call that some bang for the buck.I decided to replace my units, after learning that they had passed expiration. Who knew! I went back outside 5 minutes later & could still smell it. I hope I never have to use it but feel confident that if I did, it would work.Edit to my review...I reviewed this product too soon. I should have only given it 2 stars. My main complaint is that I have only had this product for 4 days now & twice the sprayer has turned to the open position in my pocketbook. I've been lucky that it has not accidently gone off. But I am now looking to purchase something else to replace it. I don't trust that it will not eventually bump into something in my pocketbook and go off. They need to improve the design so that it you can lock the sprayer in the closed position. |
